My beloved

Updated: Dec 10, 2024

I love my beloved, she did not love me

Poured my life out for her, she would not receive

I love my beloved, gave myself to her

She refused to love me, me she did not see.

I love my beloved, she chose him instead

He would only use her, she chose him again

I love my beloved, he caused only pain

He sought to abuse her, and for her I bled.

Crucifix

I love my beloved, so for her I prayed

Wept bitterly for her, she would not remain

I love my beloved, and yet she would stray

Showed my love by fasting, all alone I stayed.

I love my beloved, offered her my back

From all harm I kept her, bleeding on the ground

I love my beloved, shield her from the storm

When they tried to hurt her, I laid on the rack.

I love my beloved, she wove me a crown

Her lover laughed and mocked, suffring' without sound

I love my beloved, I said not a word

She placed it on my head, blood dripped all around.

I love my beloved, blood oozed from my scalp

Without a sound she stood, standing there to watch

I love my beloved, burden large I bore

Lifted not a finger, never tried to help.

I love my beloved, begged her to return

Beloved gave a cross, told me to get on

I gladly did as asked, then she moved along

She shook her head then fled, for him she did yearn.

I love my beloved, fixed me to the cross

Upon the cross I wept, for she had been lost

I love my beloved, for her sake I died

Then the world grieved with me, such a heavy cost.

I love my beloved, she refused to see

I love my beloved, gave myself to her

I love my beloved, her heart did not stir

I love my beloved, she did not love me.
